After building The Wall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) continues its mission to honor, educate and heal by building the Education Center at The Wall. The Center will be the place on the National Mall where the stories and sacrifices of our heroes will never be forgotten.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Alaskan Congressman Don Young today reintroduced H.R. 588, the Vietnam Veterans Donor Acknowledgement Act. Last November, Congressman Young, as an honorary member of the groundbreaking committee, joined Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and others in breaking ground for The Education Center at the Wall at the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial. The legislation introduced today would allow for the acknowledgement of donor contributions inside the Education Center at the Wall. “Today I introduced a bill to help veterans, at no cost to the American taxpayer, all by solving one simple problem. My bill simply permits the public recognition of contributors who donate money to help build this Education Center at The Wall,” Rep. Young said. “Every American understands that it is common sense to allow donors to be recognized and it is ridiculous to delay the construction of this center because of a nonsensical government regulation.” Read More
WASHINGTON (November 19, 2012) – Gold Star family members will be joined by Congressional leaders, senior military officers, and veterans for the ceremonial groundbreaking for The Education Center at The Wall Wednesday, November 28. Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta will deliver remarks during the ceremony. The Education Center at The Wall will be a national landmark dedicated to bringing to life the stories of the more than 58,000 American service members lost in the Vietnam War. It will also tell the stories of the fallen in Iraq and Afghanistan, serving as a temporary place of remembrance until today’s veterans receive their own national honor. Read More

Washington, D.C. – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) now has a nearly complete collection of photos of the 120 Wyoming troops whose names are on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Wyoming Veterans Commission and its subordinate museum institution, the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum, joined VVMF in the Call for Photos campaign in March 2011. Read More
he Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has formed a promotional partnership with IZOD IndyCar team Panther Racing for this year’s 96th running of the Indianapolis 500. In an effort to educate and raise awareness for the VVMF, the two entities will publish a full page ad in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway race program, and air a public service announcement about the Education Center at The Wall during the May 27th ABC broadcast of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. The White House announced today that President Barack Obama will be the keynote speaker at the Memorial Day ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM on May 28th. Memorial Day events across the nation honor the fallen of all the nation’s conflicts, but this year the Obama Administration will join with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), the National Park Service, and the Department of Defense to pay special homage to those of the Vietnam War, as the DoD officially launches its commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the war. On March 29th, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) gratefully accepted two compact disks containing photographs of 319 Texans from the San Antonio area who sacrificed their lives during the Vietnam War. During a brief ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a delegation from the University of Texas in San Antonio (UTSA), led by volunteer researcher Mark Marquez and retired air force colonel and UTSA military advisor, Jim Massaro, presented the photos to Jan C. Scruggs, VVMF Founder and President.The photos will become part of the growing collection of photos to be featured in the planned Education Center at The Wall. Read More
The First Division Museum of Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL, which presents the history of the storied 1st Division (Big Red One) from WWI to the present day, has generously agreed to partner with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) in its National Call for Photos Campaign, an initiative to collect the more than 58,000 photos of fallen service-members inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. The Museum has generously agreed to help collect photographs of the over 3,000 fallen 1st Infantry Division Soldiers in Vietnam. Read More
